4-H volunteers from 12 states come to Lincoln, Ne this fall to gain new ideas and network with their peers. Registration is open for the North Central Region 4-H Volunteer Forum scheduled Oct. 1-4 at the downtown Holiday Inn. The theme is "Giving Them Our Best."

We had our first regular meeting today, Jan. 17. We've got 40 members. I'll ask for advice. I've been a club leader for 15+ years and in the early years the election of officers so often was a popularity contest (as elections often are), but we'd elect someone who didn't show up for the meetings. So, in the last few years I make a list of "eligible officer candidates" based on their attendance. If you are not familiar with the 4-H Volunteer Information Series, I would encourage you to check it out at http://4h.unl.edu/volunteers/InfoSeries.htm. There are over 60 one to three page fact sheets designed to help 4-H volunteers. There are sections on club activities, 4-H information, club leader help, officer help, etc. If you have any suggestions for the series, let us know.
